Privacy Policy

BhutiFuel respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, where it is stored and your rights. It applies to the BhutiFuel web app and the static pages on buthifuel.xyz. Last updated: 1 September 2026.

Who we are

BhutiFuel is a South African product built and operated from South Africa. We provide a free ledger and profitability tools for e-hailing drivers and fleet owners. When we say "we" or "us" in this policy, we mean the BhutiFuel team.

What we collect and when

You can use most of BhutiFuel without creating an account. The app stores your fuel fills, trip logs and earnings locally in your browser so it works offline. Here is when and what we collect:

• Without an account: we do not collect or send anything to our servers. Everything stays in your browser storage and is never transmitted over the network.
• With a free account: we collect the email address you sign up with, and optionally a display name and vehicle/platform details you choose to add. We also store your logged fills, trips and earnings so they sync across your devices.
• Usage analytics: on the deployed site only, Vercel Web Analytics records the number of visitors, page views and web vitals. This is aggregated and does not identify you. There are no cookies and no third-party trackers in the analytics.

How we use your information

• To create and authenticate your account.
• To sync your ledger across devices and keep it safe.
• To give you reports, profit estimates and export downloads.
• To improve the product and fix bugs, using aggregated, non-identifying usage data.
• To send you service messages, such as a confirmation email for sign-up or a password-recovery link.

We do not use your data for marketing, we do not profile you, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone, ever.

Where your data is stored

Account data and your synced ledger are stored on servers in South Africa, hosted by Supabase using their regional infrastructure. The session is kept alive with a short-lived access token that refreshes in the background. Nothing is stored on Supabase until you sign in, and anonymous visitors are not tracked.

Data you can access and control

You always own your data:

• You can export all of your fills, trips, earnings and profile at any time as JSON or CSV from the app.
• You can update or correct your display name and vehicle details while signed in.
• You can request a password-reset email from the sign-in screen.
• You can delete your account at any time. Deleting your account also deletes your synced records from our servers. Because the free offline mode never leaves your browser, this only affects data that was synced while signed in.

How to ask us about your data

If you want to correct, export or delete your account, or you have a question about this policy, reach out through the contact details on the website and we will respond. South African users have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your rights under POPIA have been infringed.

Children and young users

BhutiFuel is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, contact us so we can delete it.

Links to other sites

BhutiFuel links to third-party services, such as the South African Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources for official fuel prices. When you leave our site, this policy does not apply. Read those services' own policies before you share personal information with them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, the Last updated date at the top will change, and if the change is material we will show a notice on the site. Your continued use of BhutiFuel after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
