Bolt Driver Profit Calculator for South Africa

Your payout is not your profit. Enter what Bolt actually paid you for a shift and what it cost you to drive it, and see what each kilometre left in your pocket.

What landed in your account for the shift, after commission and fees. Bolt's commission varies, so use your own earnings screen, don't guess a rate.

Every kilometre the car moved for work, including dead kilometres and the trip home.

Data, cleaning, tolls, and the daily slice of insurance, finance and maintenance.

How the estimate works

fuel cost (R) = distance × consumption ÷ 100 × fuel price
net earnings (R) = payout − fuel cost − other expenses
profit per km (R/km) = net earnings ÷ distance

This is an estimate based only on the numbers you enter, not a statement of what Bolt pays, and not financial advice. Its value comes from using it consistently: the same shift each week, or a full week at a time, so you can compare.

Compare weeks, not shifts

One good shift proves nothing. Run the calculator on a full week, then again the next week: the platform takes its cut differently per fare, prices move monthly, and demand shifts. What you want is a trend, is profit per kilometre holding, climbing, or bleeding away?

Bolt driver profit questions

How much does a Bolt driver make per kilometre in South Africa?

There's no honest single figure, payout depends on your city, when you drive, fares, incentives and your own costs. Be careful with anyone quoting an average. Use the calculator with your numbers, then track the real thing over a few weeks.

How do I account for Bolt's commission and fees?

Enter the payout that actually lands in your account. Commission and fees vary, so don't guess a rate from a forum, your earnings screen shows what was deducted.

Is driving for Bolt more profitable than Uber?

It depends on your area, your hours and your costs, there is no universal answer. The practical test: log both platforms separately for a few weeks and compare your own profit per kilometre.
