About
What is BhutiFuel?
BhutiFuel is a free South African app for drivers who want honest answers about what they earn, what fuel costs them, and what the car is really doing to their income. Logging three numbers a day - litres, kilometres, what came in - turns into your real cost per kilometre, your actual profit per trip, and useful records for tax.
Who is it for?
South African drivers who care about the difference between what they earned and what they kept. Uber and Bolt drivers are the main audience, but anyone who runs kilometres for work and wants a single honest ledger will find it useful, including taxi, delivery and chauffeur drivers. There is also a personal mode for drivers who use the same app to keep track of their own car fuel expenses without the e-hailing questions.
What does it actually do?
The core loop is small on purpose. Log a fill with litres, price and the kilometres on the clock. Log a trip with distance and what you were paid. Log an earning when the day is done. From those three numbers per day, the app works out your real fuel cost per kilometre, your actual profit per trip, whether the day is ahead of or behind your daily target, and how many days in a row you have logged.
Everything useful works even when you have no signal, which is most of the time on a long shift. A free account syncs your records across your phone and the web, and keeps them safe if the phone is lost. Logging stays free forever, with no card, no trial, no expiry.
Who built it?
BhutiFuel is built and maintained by a small team in South Africa, the same place the app is for. The team is led by Karabo, a South African developer who built the first version to solve a personal problem: his own fuel money was disappearing and he wanted numbers he could trust. The app has grown from there, with contributions from drivers who use it every day and from professionals who care about the financial intelligence side, accountants, fleet owners and the kind of driver who keeps receipts by habit.
Why is it built so simply?
The app is built boring on purpose. Boring is dependable, and dependable is what money records need.
Where is it based?
Designed, built and run from South Africa. The app is installable on your phone, and your data is stored by a provider based in South Africa. South African fuel prices, which the app prices every fill with, come from the official Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources monthly schedule.
How does it handle user data?
Two short answers; the long version is on the privacy page. First: your data is yours. The ledger, the logbook, the receipts, the export: every record is downloadable as JSON or CSV and you can wipe your account from the app at any time. Second: BhutiFuel does not sell or rent driver data. We do not put drivers in front of advertisers, and there are no third party trackers in the app beyond the basic analytics that measure how the site is used.
What does it cost?
Logging is free forever and the basic calculators on this site are free to use without an account. Paid power-ups exist, like Driver Pro PDF reports and Fleet plan roster tools, and they are priced in rands, monthly or yearly. The free tools are the ones most drivers need for their first year, and the paid tools earn their price once a driver wants exportable records for tax or a fleet owner wants shared rosters.
Try it with your numbers
No signup needed to try the free calculators. If you drive for a living, the Uber profit calculator and the fuel cost per km guide are the two tools most drivers open first.
